‘Sister Tabitha! What can be gong to happen? The cuckoo clock has stopped.’
It’s all too much for Griselda! Not only is she staying with her two very sweet but rather dull old aunts, but she also has to have arithmetic lessons from horrid Mr Kneebreeches… and if that weren’t enough, the cuckoo in the clock starts mocking her! That’s when she throws a tantrum and hits the cuckoo clock with a book, and for the first time in fifty years the cuckoo clock stops telling everyone the time.
The aunts are unusually upset by the clock’s silence – it seems this is no normal cuckoo clock but is invested with magical powers. the luck of the house hangs on it and Griselda simply has to do something to persuade the cuckoo to come back. Can she make friends with him again? And what exciting adventures will the cuckoo lead her to it she does?
